SFM Events:

Launching in the House of Lords: The water purification kit project to provide safe drinking water for children in schools and in orphanages and the food preservation project to stem the high post-harvest loss in farming will be launched at the House of Lords on April 19, 2012 from 7pm to 9pm. Dignitaries from all works of life and friends of Africa are being invited to the occasion.

Charity Ball on Saturday 12 November 2011: Our annual African Shepherd's Delight celebrates our donors and volunteers and is an occasion to inform them about the achievements of the charity. The event was attended by the civic parties - the Mayor and Vice-Chairman of Lincolnshire County Council. The MC was the Lincoln Towncrier, who did a marvellous job. The event also showcased African food, crafts, music and fashion. Many thanks to Mrs Layo Ogunremi, who designed the African fabrics and organised the fashion show. Many thanks to Mrs Anastasia Oyebanji and the SFM catering team for preparing a delicious African meal for over 100 guests. Thanks to Mike, the DJ. And thanks to St Peter and St Paul's Catholic Church for allowing us to use the Parish Centre.

Dedication Service for tractors, Sunday 5 June, 2011: It was a great thanksgiving service of dedication at Lincoln Baptist Church. The president of SFM spoke about the achievements of the charity since its inception in 2007 on BBC Radio Lincolnshire and Siren FM that morning. He also gave a speech about it during the service. The church prayed for the project and members of SFM. We thank you all for your continuing support.

African Shepherds Delight, Saturday 20 November 2010: The social event to celebrate our donors and volunteers and to inform them about the achievement of the charity was very successful. The Lincoln Towncrier, Karen Crow, made it very colourful. The fashion show by Cecy Styles and organised by Tolu Taiwo was a good highlight. The event also showcased African music, craft and food. SFM is grateful to Angie Thornton, who handled the photography. SFM is also grateful to David Lloyds, Morrisons Supermarket, Thornton Chocolate, Ventures Photography, Needlecraft Centre and others for their support. Watch out for next year's event!

Music Concert on Saturday 17 July 2010: Are you a lover of cool jazz? This is a must attend for you. The concert launches the 'Feed the hungry on your birthday' appeal. It will take place at Croft Street Community Centre, Croft street, Lincoln from 19hrs to 21hrs. Attendance is free. Please bring your friends to come and enjoy cool jazz music by Karl Svarc and his group.

African Shepherds Delight on Saturday 14 November 2009: The event was fabulous and well attended. Guest enjoyed an evening of activities including African and continental music, fashion, craft and food. SFM thanks the management and staff of David Lloyds Burton Waters, Saxilby Road, Lincoln. LN1 2BE for supporting the charity in making their premise available and for their support during the occasion. Bar was available and admission was free by invitation only. See you all again next year.

U2Charist on 17 October 2009: Lincoln Diocese celebrated the Harvest in St Mary le Wigford Church, High Street, Lincoln at 18.30hrs. SFM is the focus of the Bishop of Lincoln's harvest appeal this year. The speaker at the event was Ms Bev Thomas.

Concert for the hungry on Saturday 6 June, 2009: an evening of musical richness and diversity was held at the Bishop Greaves Theatre, Bishop Grosseteste University College, Longdales Road, Lincoln. LN1 3DY. The Karl Svarc Band entertained with a smoothly blending elements of blues, country/world music; The Band of the Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force played at their best mixing different styles and rhythms; and the Mzuri with guest master drummer Njega entertained with a variety of African beats. Audience feedback was positive and all said that they had a good time.

Ambassadors' Convention on January 10, 2008: This is the 'fellowship of the mysteries of God's will' and which aims to bring together SFM's volunteers in Nigeria for induction purposes and to set targets for the year. It will also be an occasion for our beneficiaries to receive donation and give testimony about how SFM has helped in changing their lives.

African Shepherd's Delight (ASD) on November 8, 2008 was well attended and full of fun. The Mayor of Lincoln Councillor Ron Hills spoke in support of SFM. SFM raised a good amount of money on the night which will go towards the farm project to feed the hungry in Nigeria. Thanks to many people who came to support. Thanks to the management of David Lloyd Burton Waters, Saxilby Road, Lincoln for their support. Thanks to Mrs Valerie Taiwo of the Culture Connect for organising the fashion show. Thanks to the 'events team' who prepared the food and made sure everybody enjoyed themselves. Thanks to the Pilgrims Band for playing entertaining music.

'Stars in their eyes' charity event on July 11, 2008: the friends of SFM organised this event in Lincoln in aid of the charity. Twelve people volunteered their talents to sing to audiences at Brant Road Social Club from 20.30hrs. All proceeds went to SFM. Thanks to the organisers.

'Jail and Bail' on Thrusday July 3, 2008: the Town crier to the Lincoln and the Ancient Port of Gainsborough "arrested" eminent people representing schools, business, media and professionals in their offices in Lincoln. The participants raised a specified "bail" amount through sponsorchipt for charity. All "bail" amounts will be used to buy 100 acres to feed the hungry in Nigeria. The SFM provides food aid to those most at rist of hunger by aiming to establish seven model farms across Nigeria and Africa by 2015. Marks and Spencers supermarket and Tesco supermarket gave us prizes for the first, the runner up and the second runner up respectively according to the amount raised. All participants were given their 'cry' by the Town crier.

Live Drumming in Lincoln High Street (May 31, 2008): the people of Lincoln were entertained to a great music by a group of drummers called "Beatniks" in the High Street on Saturday May 31, 2008. It was great fun and we raised a good amount of money on the day, thanks to the people of Lincoln for their support. We also got good publicity in the Lincolnshire Echo as photographs of the event were splashed on the pages of the newspaper.

African Shepherd's Delight (ASD) on November 10, 2007: this charity event was held at the Parish Centre of St Peter and St Paul's Catholic Church, Skellingthorpe Road, Lincoln. LN6 7RB. ASD showcases African fashion, music, crafts, food etc in raising awareness about the activities of SFM and funds for the land to grow the food SFM donates to beneficiary organisations working with vulnerable people. Grapevine Celebration, 24 - 28 August, 2007: SFM had a stall in the exhibition hall throughout this event. The response from attendees was positive and many promised to take it back to their home church for support. For more information about Grapevine please click

U2charist service: SFM attended the U2charist service in St Swithin’s Church, Lincoln on May 26, 2007 because SFM works in line with the UN’s Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Dedication Service: SFM dedication service was held at Lincoln Baptist Church, St Rumbold Street, Lincoln, near YMCA on Sunday 11th of March, 2007. The dedicatoin service was presided by the pastor, Revd Andrew Hubbard. Invited guests came from all walks of life. To give you a flavour of what transpired: we sang the 'The Lord is my shepherd...'; the children light a candle; and some attendees reflected on the dedication in an interview.
